NOTE:
Two opportunities to pray:
Leaders only: Please be available at the end of services to pray for those who come forward. If you are not actively serving during the service you are attending, make it a priority to head to the front when the invitation is given. Your presence matters!
North Attleboro Leaders and members: If you or any member of your group who currently serves is available, there is an opportunity to meet for prayer in the conference room off the break room during the second and third services. Please see Doug and Joanie White or Felix Shyllon if you would like to be a part of that ministry.
Please note: if you have a member who is not currently serving and would like to be part of the prayer during the service team, please have them take the appropriate steps to become a serve team member.
NORTH ATTLEBORO
Prayer at the Altar – AFTER SERVICES
If possible, please make an effort to be at the altar after this service to pray for others.
Your presence makes a difference—thank you for serving!
**Please read all scripture in the ESV, unless otherwise noted.**
**The Leader prompts help you, as the leader, move the conversation along.**
Key Verse: Hebrews 11
Ice Breaker Question:
Q. If you could instantly know every detail about ONE thing in your future—what would you want to know?
Key Verse: Hebrews 11
Opening Prayer:
Father, thank You that we can trust You even when we don’t understand Your process. As we open Your Word, help us surrender the details to You and grow in faith while we wait. Teach us to trust Your way, Your timing, and Your plan. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Last week: Trust God with what He SAYS and leave the RESULTS
to Him.
This week: TRUST God with what He SAYS and leave the
PROCESS up to Him.
Hebrews 11:11 ESV
Abel offered to God, Enoch walked with God, Noah built for God, Abraham obeyed and went for God, and even Sara, the first female on the list, received power from God.
God can use even you.
Genesis 16:1–5 ESV
Sarai used Hagar, an Egyptian servant, to conceive a child, and Abraham followed her lead. Then she blamed her husband even though she came up with the plan. She made a bad decision and blamed him.
FAITH is a WORK in PROGRESS.
It is not too late for someone who has ruined their life with bad decisions.
Genesis 17:15–16 ESV
Just because the promise isn’t there yet doesn’t mean it is nullified.
Q. Why is it encouraging to know that God can still work through us even after we’ve made some bad decisions? Can you share a decision you wish you had handled differently and what God taught you through it?
Leader Prompt:
Remind the group that Sarah’s mistakes did not cancel God’s promise or disqualify her from being used by Him. Ask: How can remembering God’s faithfulness help us move forward after a poor decision?
1. Faith leaves the HOW in God’s HANDS.
The mess of Hagar and Sara becomes an illustration in Galatians:
Galatians 4:22–23 ESV
This picture speaks to our faith. We don’t become Christians by works of the flesh; they are not enough. We get to heaven through faith.
Galatians 4:28–31 ESV
Q. How can trying to control the “how” of God’s plan interfere with trusting Him?
Leader Prompt:
Encourage the group to consider how easily we can trust God’s promise while still trying to control the process. Ask: What might surrendering the “how” to God look like in your life right now?
Practical Application:
Identify one situation where you have been trying to figure out or control how God will work. Pray about it this week and intentionally place the process back in God’s hands.
2. Faith leaves the WHEN in God’s TIMING.
Genesis 18:10-14 ESV
Sarah will bear a child at the appointed time. God is never late; we are just too early. We ask in our time; God answers in His time.
Q. What makes it difficult to trust God when His timing doesn’t match yours?
Leader Prompt:
Remind the group that waiting does not mean God has forgotten or that He is late. Ask: What can happen to our faith when we focus more on God’s character than on our timeline?
Practical Application:
Identify one area where you are waiting on God. This week, when you find yourself wondering “When?”, choose to remind yourself that God’s timing can be trusted.
3. Faith receives God’s POWER through the HOLY SPIRIT.
Hebrews 11:11 ESV
Sarah received explosive power.
We won’t accomplish God’s purpose in our own strength. We need power from the Holy Spirit.
Psalm 33:6 ESV
Romans 8:11 ESV
The Christian life isn’t ME PRODUCING for God. It’s God’s
Spirit PRODUCING through ME.
Faith stops looking WITHIN and starts focusing on HIM.
Hebrews 11:12 ESV
Q. Where in your life are you trying to do, in your own strength, what you need the Holy Spirit’s power to do?
Leader Prompt:
Help the group identify areas where they may be striving instead of depending on the Holy Spirit. Ask: What would depending on the Holy Spirit look like in that situation?
Practical Application:
Identify one area where you have been relying on your own strength. Pray specifically for the Holy Spirit’s help, then move forward trusting His power to work through you.
Sermon in a sentence:
Faith trusts God’s POWER and CHARACTER even when it can’t
understand God’s PROCESS.
Closing Prayer:
Father, thank You that we don’t have to know every detail because You do. Help us leave the how and the when in Your hands and depend on the power of Your Holy Spirit. When we are tempted to rely on ourselves, remind us that You are faithful. Grow our faith and help us trust You with the process. In Jesus’ name, amen.
