NOTE:

Two opportunities to pray:

Leaders only: Please be available at the end of services to pray for those who come forward. If you are not actively serving during the service you are attending, make it a priority to head to the front when the invitation is given. Your presence matters!

North Attleboro Leaders and members: If you or any member of your group who currently serves is available, there is an opportunity to meet for prayer in the conference room off the break room during the second and third services.  Please see Doug and Joanie White or Felix Shyllon if you would like to be a part of that ministry.

Please note: if you have a member who is not currently serving and would like to be part of the prayer during the service team, please have them take the appropriate steps to become a serve team member.

NORTH ATTLEBORO

Prayer at the Altar – AFTER SERVICES

If possible, please make an effort to be at the altar after this service to pray for others.

Your presence makes a difference—thank you for serving!

**Please read all scripture in the ESV, unless otherwise noted.**

**The Leader prompts help you, as the leader, move the conversation along.**

Where Is Your Faith – Part 5

Dying in Faith

Hebrews 11:13-22

Icebreaker:

If you could leave one ordinary object in a time capsule for someone 100 years from now, what would you choose—and what would it reveal about your life?

Opening Prayer:

Heavenly Father, open our hearts to Your Word today. Teach us to live by faith, find joy while we wait, and remember that our true home is with You. Help us live with eternity in mind. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Part 3: Faith OBEYS God when you don’t know the OUTCOME.

Part 4: Faith OBEYS God when you don’t understand the PROCESS.

Today: Faith OBEYS God when the OUTCOME is out of this WORLD.

‘What if God never gives you that blessing you are hoping for here?’

Dying in Faith:

  1. REJOICES without RECEIVING.

Sometimes the anticipation is more exciting than receiving what you are anticipating.

Hebrews 11:13 ESV

The people of faith saw God’s promises from afar, not here on this earth.

The goal of our life is to die in accordance with faith.  No one leaves this life alive.

Philippians 1:21–24 ESV

Faith doesn’t need to POSSESS the PROMISE to REJOICE in the PRESENT.

Christians have their present shaped by the promise.

Q. What prayer or promise are you still waiting to see fulfilled, and how are you finding joy in God while you wait?

Leader Prompt:

Encourage the group to identify an unanswered prayer or unfulfilled promise honestly. Ask: How can remembering God’s faithfulness help you rejoice in the present, even before you receive the answer?

Practical Application:
Identify one unanswered prayer or unfulfilled promise. Thank God each day this week for one way He is present and working while you wait.

Dying in Faith:

2. SPEAKS of another HOME.

We are not home yet.

Hebrews 11:13b–14 ESV

The people of faith knew they did not belong here.  We don’t belong here.

John 15:19 ESV; Romans 12:2 ESV

We are strangers to this world, but we are citizens of heaven!

1 John 2:15–17 ESV; 1 Peter 2:11 ESV

Q. What should be different about the way we live when we truly believe this world is not our home?

Leader Prompt:
Help the group identify areas where the values of this world may be shaping their choices. Ask: Does the way you live point others toward your heavenly home?

Practical Application:
Choose one worldly influence that has been shaping your thinking or priorities. Replace it this week with a habit that draws you closer to God and reflects the values of His Kingdom.

Dying in Faith:

3. THINKS about the FUTURE, not the PAST.

Our thinking opens doors for our life.   We need to take our thoughts captive because our thoughts open doors we may not want to walk through.

Our thinking will lead to acting.

Genesis 24:4 ESV

Stop thinking about going back when things are not working out the way you thought.

Hebrews 11:16 ESV

God is proud of His people who long for heaven.  Jesus is worth more than this life.

Q. When life does not go the way you expected, what helps you keep moving forward with God instead of longing to go back?

Leader Prompt:

Encourage the group to examine where their thoughts have been leading them. Ask: Is there something from your past that you keep returning to in your mind, and what truth from God can help you move forward?

KNOWING you’re LEAVING shapes how you LEAVE it.

  1. ABANDON your GRIPS.

Hebrews 11:17–19 ESV

Don’t hold on too tightly to anything, even the things God gives you.  They are all temporary.

B. BLESS those who will OUTLIVE you.

You cannot take it with you, but you can bless the people behind you.

Hebrews 11:20–21 ESV

The word bless means to build up.  As he was dying, Jacob blessed his grandchildren.

C. CHOOSE how to be BURIED.

Hebrews 11:22 ESV

Get eternity in your bones.  It is your DNA; you were made for a better nation and eternal glory. That is your identity; you are a citizen of heaven.

Q. If you truly lived with eternity in mind, what would you release, pass on, or prepare differently?

Leader Prompt:
Encourage the group to think about the spiritual legacy they are building. Ask: What are you holding too tightly, and how can you intentionally bless those who will outlive you?

Practical Application:
Take one step toward leaving a legacy of faith: surrender something you have been gripping, speak a meaningful blessing over someone, or record a testimony of God’s faithfulness to share with the next generation.

Sermon in a Sentence:

Faith lives differently HERE because it has something better THERE.

Closing Prayer:

Lord, help us release the past, trust You with every unanswered prayer, and live for what lasts forever. May our lives leave a legacy that points others to Jesus. In His name, amen.
