Who is Jesus? | ‘How I See Jesus is How I Receive from Him’ – Felix Shyllon

How I See Jesus is How I Receive from Him
Key Verse: 1 John 2:13-14, John 1:1-5, 14 ESV
Theme: From God’s perspective, Christian maturity is knowing HIM Who is From the Beginning.
3 Categories of growth: When we come to Jesus, we come as children.  The concept of fatherhood is very easy for children to understand.   Then there are young men and women, they are in spiritual warfare.  When we are children, we need to know the love of our Father, and then as we grow into young men and women, we need to know how to enforce the defeat of the Wicked one.  Then there are fathers and mothers, those are the ones that know Him, who is from the beginning.  So therefore, Christian maturity is to know Him who is from the beginning.  Every time John talks about ‘Him who is from the beginning’ he is talking about Jesus.
Why does God want us to know Him, who is from the beginning?
1. JESUS IS DEITY AND THE MESSAGE OF THE LAST DAYS.
In the Old Testament, God is called Yahweh.  Yahweh means salvation.  Jesus is Yahweh who came in the flesh.  Jesus is God Almighty.
In the past, God spoke to the prophets but in these last days, he has spoken to us by his Son Jesus Christ.  He is the Son of God.
Q. At what point in your faith did you truly understand that Jesus is the Son of God, that He came to this earth in the flesh? What impact did knowing this (in your heart as oppose to your head) have in your walk with Christ?   How was this a real turning point for you?
2. HOW I SEE JESUS IS HOW I RECEIVE FROM HIM.
They viewed Jesus as just a man.
Q. How has your view of Jesus reflected how you received from Him, whether positive or negative?  What do you do in times of doubt? Do you tend to get discouraged and why?
If we do not honor Jesus then God will not honor us.
3. ALL OF HEAVEN, EARTH, AND HELL RESPONDS TO THE NAME AND PERSON OF JESUS.
Q. How does knowing that Jesus is above all, even Hell, comfort you in your daily life?  What are some worries and fears you have had, that have melted away because you know this truth?
4. HOW GOD SEES YOU IS HOW GOD SEES ME.
Q. When you have difficulty loving other believers, what is it that makes it difficult?
1: Is Jesus righteous before God?  Yes.  Then so are you.
2: Is Jesus accepted before God?  Yes. Then so are you.
3: Is Jesus well-pleasing before God? Yes.  Then so are you.
Q. Why are we so quick to condemn ourselves even though, when in Christ there is no condemnation?
