55 people crossed the line of faith last weekend! Pastor Tim wants us to make it a regular habit of inviting people to church.
People need hope. God is in not the end of wisdom, success and pleasure, he is the source of these things. He does not offer worldly success but he offers success that lasts and satisfies. The world cannot give us eternal pleasure.
This week: The Sovereignty of God.
When we know God is sovereign, life is full. When we know he is in control, there is hope in it.
WE LIVE BETEEN THE WOW’S AND WHY’S OF LIFE.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 ESV
This covers every spectrum of human existence. Solomon is walking us through the polar opposites of life to say that everyone is on the spectrum of experience. Half of this list is is on the WOW side and the other have is on the WHY side. We experience many WOWs and we experience many WHYs in life.
Ecclesiastes 3:16-18 ESV
The world is broken. There is much injustice in our world. Man, apart from God will act like animals.
Q. What is a WOW moment and/or a WHY moment you have had in your life that really stands out?
Ecclesiastes 4:1-3 ESV
When we see so much injustice and oppression in life, the ‘Why’s’ get into our heart. We see enough ‘whys’ and then we say ask ‘what for?’

What is it all about, what is the point?

2. WITH GOD THERE IS A SEASON FOR IT.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 ESV
The ‘whys’ are a season. A season is temporary. What gets us through a season is knowing that it is eventually going to end. In everything there is a season and God knows what season we are in. The seasons make us stronger.
Q. What seasons of your life have strengthened you?
Embrace this Moment as a Season and not a station.
He has a plan for us and He is faithful to complete the work he has started in us (Philippians 1:6). We are children of the Most High God and he loves us.
3. WITH GOD, THERE IS A REASON FOR IT.
Ecclesiastes 3:10-11 ESV
There is a reason for the season. God has made everything beautiful.
First: He has made everything beautiful in its time.
Pastor Tim gave the example of an oriental rug. It is beautiful on one side but when we flip it over, we will see all the threads going in every direction.
When we are under, he brings us over so we can see how he has orchestrated things in our life. He works things out we cannot presently see.
Q. What are some of the things God has orchestrated in your life that you can clearly see now that there was a reason for that season?
Second: He has put eternity into mans’ heart…
There is something deep inside of us. Even atheists.
Third: He has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.
It is there but we may not understand it. We get to learn and trust His sovereignty. When we realize this, the joy comes back! We don’t have to obsess because God has got it! He is our Father, he called us and he will not give up on us.
Ecclesiastes 3:12-13 ESV
God’s Sovereignty over the Seasons and Reasons of Life is our Joy no matter the Wow or Why.
