NOTE:
Two opportunities to pray:
Leaders only: Please be available at the end of services to pray for those who come forward. If you are not actively serving during the service you are attending, make it a priority to head to the front when the invitation is given. Your presence matters!
North Attleboro Leaders and members: If you are available, or any member of your group who currently serves is available, there is an opportunity to meet for prayer in the conference room off of the break room area during the second and third services. Please see Doug and Joanie White or Felix Shyllon if you would like to be a part of that ministry.
Please note: if you have a member who is not currently serving and would like to be part of the prayer during the service team, please have them take the appropriate steps to become a serve team member.
NORTH ATTLEBORO
Prayer at the Altar – AFTER SERVICES
If possible, please make an effort to be at the altar after this service to pray for others.
Your presence makes a difference—thank you for serving!
**Please read all scripture in the ESV, unless otherwise noted.**
KEY VERSE: Hebrews 12
Ice Breaker
Q. What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever had to “stick with” over time—and what helped you not quit?
Opening Prayer:
Lord, as we gather today, help us fix our eyes on You. Give us open hearts to hear what You want to teach us and strength to run the race You’ve marked out for us with endurance. Shape us, grow us, and meet us right where we are. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Leader Insight Box
Resilience grows when people feel safe, not pressured. Your role isn’t to fix struggles, but to faithfully point hearts back to Jesus. Trust God’s Word to do the work, allow space for reflection, and remember that the Holy Spirit is active beyond what is spoken in the group.

Hebrews 12:1b NIV
There is a RACE MARKED OUT for me.
5 Challenges Every Runner Faces:
1. FATIGUE
2. POOR PACING
3. DISTRACTIONS
4. INJURY and PAIN
5. COMPARISON
Q. How does believing your race is intentionally designed by God change the way you respond when you face challenges like fatigue, distractions, or comparison?
Leader Prompt:
Emphasize that the verse doesn’t say an easy race or a fast race, but a marked-out race. Invite participants to reflect on how frustration often comes from trying to run someone else’s lane.
If the group seems stuck, you can ask:
“What’s one challenge that feels especially hard right now—and how might God be using it as part of your race, not a detour from it?”
Hebrews 4:14–15 NIV
Running with Resilience:
1. We EXERCISE our GOD-GIVEN SELF-DISCIPLINE.
1 Corinthians 9:24–27 NIV; Galatians 5:16 NIV
Q. What does it look like for you, right now, to intentionally exercise the self-discipline God has already given you rather than waiting to feel more motivated or spiritually “ready”?
Leader Prompt:
Remind the group that discipline is something we practice, not something we wait to feel. God has already given us what we need—our role is to use it.
Practical Application:
Take one small, intentional step this week to practice spiritual self-discipline—choosing to walk by the Spirit rather than by feelings.
Running with Resilience:
2. We embrace every TEST as an OPPORTUNITY to PROGRESS.
James 1:2–4 NIV
Q. How might your perspective change if you began to see the tests you’re facing right now as opportunities for spiritual growth instead of obstacles to avoid?
Leader Prompt:
Encourage the group to focus on progress, not relief. God often uses testing to strengthen us for the race ahead, not slow us down.
Practical Application:
Identify one current test you’re walking through and intentionally ask God to use it to grow your faith, endurance, or maturity this week.
Running with Resilience:
3. We STRIP OFF the SIN that STIFLES.
Hebrews 12:1 NIV; Ephesians 4:22–24 NIV
Q. What kinds of hindrances—things that slow progress or pull focus—can make it harder to run our spiritual race with endurance?
Leader Prompt:
Clarify that hindrances aren’t always obvious or intentional—they’re often subtle patterns, distractions, or attitudes.
Practical Application:
Spend time this week asking God to help you notice any weight that may be slowing your spiritual growth and to guide you in laying it aside.
Running with Resilience:
4. We CONSIDER the CROSS of CHRIST.
Hebrews 12:2–3 NIV
Q. How does intentionally considering what Jesus endured on the cross help you stay resilient when you feel weary or discouraged in your own race?
Leader Prompt:
Help the group shift their focus from their circumstances to Christ’s endurance. Emphasize that Scripture calls us to consider Jesus—not to minimize hardship, but to find strength and perspective through His sacrifice and faithfulness.
Practical Application:
This week, intentionally pause during moments of discouragement to reflect on the cross and allow Christ’s endurance to renew your strength.
Sermon in a Sentence:
I run the race of faith with resilience when I exercise God-given self-discipline, embrace every test as an opportunity to progress, strip off the sin that stifles, and consider the cross of Christ.
Closing Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for going before us and enduring the cross so we could run our race with hope. Help us leave here strengthened, focused, and willing to trust You through every challenge. Teach us to walk in obedience, lay aside hindrances, and keep our eyes on You. We surrender our race to You. Amen.
