Recap: In part one we learned how to get connected with a power source, in part 2 we learned how to wire up to the power source.  Now we will how to use the power source to run a better and joyful race.

There are times when we need to de-clutter like in spring we do Spring Cleaning or we clean out our garage, basement office or car.  When we have clutter it slows us down and drains our energy.   Maybe we have too many apps open on or apps we don’t use on our phones, which we need to remove as these slow our phones down and  drain our batteries.

 Q. What clutter removing activities do you enjoy and why?  How, at times, do you get distracted while trying to remove the clutter or find that it is taking more time and energy than it should?

How can we run a better race and have a joyful life?

Key Verse: Hebrews 12:1-7 NLT

1.  WHEN I FOCUS ON CHRIST, I CAN CLEARLY IDENTIFY CLUTTER.

Hebrews 12:1-2 NLT

If we put away things in our lives that slow us down, we will be empowered to run a joyful race for a better life!  God doesn’t change you so He can love you, He loves you so that He can change you. Jesus is the author and finisher or our faith.  We may not be able to see through the clutter because we get bogged down with things that are directly in front of us.  We too have a joy set before us.  Jesus is our joy!  We need to focus of the finish line.

Q.  Since we as believers know Jesus is the Author and Finisher of our faith (we take off from the starting line because of Him and finish because of Him too), then what clutter in your life have you been able to clearly see as clutter because you have based your knowledge of who Jesus is and what He has done, not on how feel?

2. I HAVE THE HOLY SPIRIT WHO SUPERNATURALLY EMPOWERS ME TO KILL THE CLUTTER

Romans 8:13 (NLT)

Clutter drains our battery, slows us down. We need to do something about the clutter. God can help us get rid of the clutter but we still need to take action. For example, Chris had told us about the APP on his phone that he needs to delete.  It takes up much of his time.  He showed us how he first had to identify that it was clutter, then he had to physically remove it from the phone, as the Holy Spirit prompted him, then he had to take action.

Q. What clutter has the Holy Spirit helped you kill and what action did you need to take to kill it once and for all?

Be intentional and deliberate about de-cluttering by: Reading your Bible every day, getting alone with God every day, actively listening to what He is speaking to you and acting when convicted by the Holy Spirit.

 3. I HAVE A CHURCH FAMILY THAT CAN HELP ME CLEAN THE CLUTTER.

James 5:16 NLT

We are not suppose to do this alone.  There are obstacles that we have faced that we were able to de-clutter.  We can share these experiences with someone else going through that same difficulties.  We can confess our sins to each other, keep each other accountable and keep our focus on Jesus together.  Confession brings healing.  By de-cluttering, the obstacle can be defeated!

Q. What are some struggles you have faced that you were able to share with someone else that helped them or struggles others faced that helped you and how?

Do you have a clutter-killing friend?

Are you regularly attending service and small group? (Leader: here is an opportunity to address those in your group that are inconsistently attending church and/or your small-group).

Run your race, set before you, by God with Joy and Endurance!

We can have joy and run with endurance because we know the outcome.

Pray for each other, the lost, campuses, nation, leaders and Kingdom Builders campaign.
