EVENT INFO:

Join TAYA on May 4th at North Attleboro for the Come Into The Light Tour, a transformative worship experience featuring her latest single by the same name, as well as other new songs from her upcoming record. “This tour is something I felt God drop in my heart over 2 years ago to do here in the United States, but for different reasons, it never eventuated…until now. I believe God’s timing and His alignment is perfect — and without either, I wouldn’t be walking into these nights with the stories and songs I now am.” Each night will be an invitation to pause and lay your life before God — every good, messy, broken, and sweet piece — and allow Him to have it all. You won’t want to miss these powerful nights of surrender in the Presence of Jesus, where we can Come Into The Light together and rediscover that He truly is everything He promised to be.

Key Verse:  Nehemiah 3

Ice Breaker Question

If you could build your dream house anywhere in the world, where would it be, and what would it look like?

Opening Prayer

Heavenly Father, we thank You for bringing us together today. As we study Your Word, help us understand how You build our lives and strengthen us for Your purposes. Give us open hearts, clarity, and courage to apply what we learn. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

*********

Nehemiah Chapter 3 may seem boring.  However, don’t despise the boring parts of scripture; God is working in life’s boring and mundane realities.

The city in this chapter is a picture of the Church.  God builds people’s lives through the Church.  We are the Church, and by God’s grace, we will build things in this church.

God is into building, so our building campaign is ongoing.  God is also into building His people!

When you BUILD the CHURCH, you are building YOURSELF.

God Builds My Life When I:

  1. START with JESUS.

Everything in the Old Testament points to Jesus.

Nehemiah 3:1

Hebrews 4:14

Jesus is the true High Priest who rose up on the 3rd day and is building His Church and those who belong to it by implication.

Philippians 1:6

The first thing Eliashib did with his building project was to consecrate it.  Consecration  (Holy) means to be set apart from normal things.

As Christians, we are set aside.  We are no longer ‘normal’ or ‘regular people.’

Q. What does starting with Jesus look like in your daily life, and what areas might you need to surrender to Him?

Practical Application:  Reflect on an area of your life where you need to let Jesus take the lead. This week, take a specific step—whether in prayer, action, or attitude—to put Him first.

God Builds My Life When I:

2. Connect to BELIEVING COMMUNITY.

Nehemiah 3:3–4

They needed to be next to each other to work together toward the same goal.

Everyone is next to someone. Whoever it is you are around brings you to where you are.  You can reshape your future by reshaping your community.

1 Corinthians 12:12, 1 Corinthians 12:14, 1 Corinthians 12:21

We need other believers. We need their prayers, gifts, perspectives, words, and faith.

God designed spiritual growth to happen in community, not isolation.

Life Groups are the PULSE of Waters Church.

Q.  Why do you think being part of a believing community is essential for spiritual growth? How has community impacted your walk with God?

Practical Application:  This week, connect with someone in your Life Group or church community. Share what God has taught you, or ask how to pray for them.

God Builds My Life When I:

3. ENGAGE in God’s work with OTHERS.

Nehemiah 3:8–9

This list of those working next to each other shows the diversity of positions and occupations/spheres.

The varied people, positions, and abilities worked together on ONE goal.

The work brought them together.

1 Corinthians 12:4–7

God loves variety.

Psalm 104:24

If the church is missing your involvement, the church is incomplete, and your life suffers.

Q.  What happens to the church and your spiritual growth when you choose not to engage in God’s work? How can your unique involvement contribute to making the church complete and fulfilling God’s purpose?

Practical Application:  Identify one way to serve alongside others this week—in your church, family, or community. Take a step to put your gifts into action.

God Builds My Life When I:

4. BEGIN where I AM now.

Nehemiah 3:10

Each person works on the part of the wall near him.

You find yourself growing when you are actively participating in the work.

Q. What opportunities do you see around you right now to serve or grow? How can you start with what God has placed in front of you?

(Leader: Many of your members may already be serving, and maybe it is time for them to take a step of faith and serve as a Life Group Leader—at your discretion.  Leading a Life group is an excellent opportunity for their growth).

Practical Application:  This week, look for one immediate need you can meet—small or large. Trust that God can use you right where you are to make a difference.

Closing Questions:

  • Have I given my life to Christ, God’s Son?
  • Am I standing next to God’s people?
  • Am I engaged in God’s work?

Key Takeaways

  1. God’s work begins when we start with Jesus as our foundation.
  2. A believing community is vital for spiritual growth and encouragement.
  3. Engaging in God’s work builds both the Church and our own lives.

Scripture for Meditation:

Philippians 1:6

And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

Closing Prayer

Father, thank You for showing us how You build our lives. Help us to start with Jesus, connect deeply with Your people, and engage fully in the work You’ve given us. Use us for Your glory and guide us to be faithful in every opportunity You provide. May we walk boldly in Your purpose this week and always. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
