Opening Prayer
Father God, thank you for caring about every part of who we are—mind, body, and spirit. As we meet today, help us uncover the lies we’ve believed and replace them with Your truth. Remind us that Jesus came to bring us freedom, healing, and identity. Lead us through this conversation with grace, and grow our faith as we learn to trust You more deeply. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
The ENEMY wants me SICK in MIND and BODY
We are in a multifaceted battle with a spiritual enemy. In every battle, there is GROUND to be won, and that ground is TRUTH.
Truth in our relationships, in our emotions, and our life ambitions.
Every lie you believe or hear regarding your health and wellness is a message from Satan.
Point 1: The enemy wants me FATIGUED
Luke 13:11 (ESV)
The woman in this passage was weak, tired, and fatigued. She had a spirit of fatigue.
In the US, fatigue ranks among the top five reasons for primary care visits.
We are under the impression that drugs are the answer to fatigue. Still, no one is telling you that every prescription medication, in some way, leads to the depletion of vitamins and minerals necessary for proper bodily function.
Q. What lies have you believed that may be contributing to ongoing fatigue or discouragement in your life?
Practical Application:
This week, pay close attention to what drains your energy—emotionally, spiritually, and physically. Begin to replace one unhealthy habit or thought with a truth from God’s Word that brings life and rest.
Point 2: The enemy wants me TURNED away from GOD
Luke 13:10 (ESV)
The real conflict in the story is that Jesus is teaching on the Sabbath in a Synagogue. In a first-century Synagogue, women were not given the same treatment as men.
If a woman were sick, most people assumed it was a curse sent upon you from God.
The devil’s oldest trick is that he does the damage and gets you to blame God for it.
Q. What are some subtle ways the enemy may be distracting or turning your heart away from God?
Practical Application:
Commit to spending intentional, uninterrupted time with God each day this week. Even 10 focused minutes in prayer or reading Scripture can help you turn your heart back to Him.
Point 3: The enemy wants me TRAPPED by RELIGION
Luke 13:14 (ESV)
The religious leaders complained that Jesus healed her on the Sabbath.
Religion is our attempt to reach God through good works. Religion brings only rules, not healing.
Religion does not release you; it binds you and bows you over.
The woman’s physical condition reflects her spiritual outlook. She did not have vision for her life.
The devil wants you to live in darkness and limitation.
Proverbs 4:20-22 (ESV)
Q. How can religious routines or mindsets become a trap that blocks us from experiencing true healing and a relationship with Jesus?
Practical Application:
Reflect on whether you’re practicing your faith out of obligation or out of intimacy. Ask God to help you approach Him with sincerity, not just tradition, and seek healing through a personal connection with Him.
Point 4: The enemy wants me TORN from my IDENTITY.
Luke 13:15 (ESV)
There are two things Jesus makes clear about this woman as he rebukes the dead religious establishment:
A. People are MOST VALUABLE to God.
God is full of compassion for people.
Culture blames humans for everything wrong on the planet.
Acts 10:38 (ESV)
God is compassionate toward your suffering and illness. He wants to heal you.
Psalm 103:2–5 (ESV)
Some people have bought the lie that their condition is permanent, that it is God’s judgment, that they don’t deserve healing, but they need to live like it.
B. You are not their LABEL – you are His BELOVED.
Luke 13:16 (ESV)
Jesus puts her identity back.
Q. Where in your life do you struggle with labels or identities placed on you by others, rather than walking in your identity as God’s beloved?
Practical Application:
Write down one truth about who God says you are. Speak it aloud each day this week and reject any label or identity that does not align with God’s Word.
Point 5: The enemy wants me TRAPPED in DEFEAT
Luke 13:12 (ESV)
God’s desire for you is for you to be SET FREE from what is controlling you.
Q. What areas of your life feel stuck or defeated, and how might Jesus be inviting you to freedom today?
Practical Application:
Pray this week specifically over one area where you feel defeated. Ask Jesus to speak freedom into that place and take one step of faith, no matter how small, toward healing and victory.

Lord Jesus,
Thank You that You see us, call us, and heal us. Thank You for exposing the lies of the enemy and reminding us of who we truly are in You. We ask for freedom from fatigue, from religious traps, and from anything that separates us from Your truth. Help us walk forward as healed, whole, and loved children of God. In Your name, Amen.
