WATERS UNIVERSITY – Re-Engage starts the first week in March and Alpha Spring classes in April!

We’re looking to grow healthy Christians at Waters Church…spiritually, physically, mentally, financially, and relationally — that is the mission of Waters University.

We are well into our Financial Peace University Spring classes and looking forward to the March start for “Re-Engage” classes and the mid April start to “Alpha” classes at the North Attleboro, Woonsocket, Southcoast and Apollo Beach campuses.
Re‑Engage is a Christ‑centered marriage‑enrichment experience that helps couples reconnect, strengthen communication, and grow together through honest conversation and community support.
Alpha is a welcoming, conversation‑driven introduction to the Christian faith where anyone can explore life’s big questions in a relaxed, judgment‑free environment.
Go to https://watersu.org/ or click the link below now for more information on classes and to register.   Registrations should be posted soon if they’re not already up.

Please note: Life Groups that generously provide or sponsor a meal for Alpha are deeply appreciated. To help create a safe and consistent environment where guests feel comfortable opening up, we kindly ask that groups serve the meal and then allow the Alpha team and registered participants to continue with the class and discussion portion.

Thank you!

Thank you!

Prayer Saturday – First Saturday after First Tuesday/Together Tuesday: 9-10 am all locations

Worship Mondays: 6:00 a.m. worship – location rotation

For schedules, go to waterschurch.org/events

NOTE:

Two opportunities to pray:

Leaders only: Please be available at the end of services to pray for those who come forward. If you are not actively serving during the service you are attending, make it a priority to head to the front when the invitation is given. Your presence matters!

North Attleboro Leaders and members: If you are available, or any member of your group who currently serves is available, there is an opportunity to meet for prayer in the conference room off of the break room area during the second and third services.  Please see Doug and Joanie White or Felix Shyllon if you would like to be a part of that ministry.

Please note: if you have a member who is not currently serving and would like to be part of the prayer during the service team, please have them take the appropriate steps to become a serve team member.

NORTH ATTLEBORO

Prayer at the Altar – AFTER SERVICES

If possible, please make an effort to be at the altar after this service to pray for others.

Your presence makes a difference—thank you for serving!

**Please read all scripture in the ESV, unless otherwise noted.**

KEY VERSE: John 8

Leader: Please note that the Leader Prompts in each section are there to help you guide the conversation. These are especially helpful when the discussion slows down, becomes unclear, or needs gentle redirection. Use them to refocus the group on the main point, draw out deeper reflection, and keep the conversation centered on Christ and His Word. They are tools to support you — not a script you must follow.

Ice Breaker Question:

If you had to describe your personality as either sunrise, midday sun, sunset, or candlelight — which would you choose and why?

Opening Prayer:

Lord Jesus, You are the Light of the world. Open our eyes to see You clearly. Remove distraction and darkness from our hearts. Teach us who You are and who we are in You. Help us walk in Your light and reflect You boldly. Amen.

John 8:12 ESV

Jesus is the light that shines in darkness, and darkness cannot beat the light.

The pain we experience from bright lights is not the light’s fault. It is because you spent too much time in the dark.

You don’t know you’re in darkness until you see light.

4 Absolute Claims of Jesus:

Jesus makes an absolute COSMIC claim.

A. Light (Jesus) makes EVERYTHING VISIBLE.

B. Light (Jesus) makes EVERYTHING LIVE.

C. Light (Jesus) gives EVERYTHING ORDER.

Light brings order to our day.

D. Light  (Jesus) gives EVERYTHING IDENTITY.

Jesus makes an absolute THEOLOGICAL claim. (John 7:37–39 ESV)

Jesus makes an absolute GLOBAL claim. (Isaiah 42:6 ESV)

Jesus makes an absolutely EXCLUSIVE claim. (John 8:12 ESV)

There is no other true Light in the world.

Q. As believers, which of these absolute claims of Jesus do you most need to live out more boldly right now — COSMIC, THEOLOGICAL, GLOBAL, or EXCLUSIVE — and why?

Leader Prompt:

Guide the group to move from agreement to application. Since we already believe these truths, the question becomes: are we living like they are true? Encourage practical examples — in conversations, decisions, priorities, and witness. Help them consider where their daily life may not fully reflect the magnitude of Jesus’ absolute claims.

Practical Application:

Each morning this week, write down specific areas of your life—such as thoughts, plans, identity, and purpose—and prayerfully surrender each to Jesus, acknowledging His lordship over them before you begin your day.

1. Jesus ILLUMINATES my way to the FATHER.

Without Jesus, you are lost in sin and darkness and confused about your identity.

John 8:13-14; John 14:12 ESV; John 16:26–28 ESV

Q. How has Jesus illuminated your understanding of the Father — not just in your salvation story, but in the way you now see God’s character, hear His voice, trust His plans, and approach Him in prayer?

Leader Prompt:

Encourage testimonies of how Christ personally revealed God in salvation and in daily guidance.

Practical Application:

This week, set aside time to list specific ways Jesus has revealed the Father to you. Thank Him in prayer for each example and reflect on how this guidance has impacted your path.

2. Jesus EXPOSES the emptiness of HUMAN OPINIONS.

John 8:15 ESV

People judge others on looks, how they speak, the color of their skin, etc.

Jesus does not come to judge, but Jesus came to save you and reveal the Father to you.

Q. Where do you feel pressure to trust human opinion over Jesus’ truth?

Leader Prompt:

Help the group see that human judgment is temporary and limited, but Christ’s truth stands forever.

Practical Application:

Identify one belief or habit influenced more by culture than Scripture. Write it down and intentionally read related Scriptures, asking God to help you align your thinking with His Word before the week ends.

3. Jesus brings me out of the DARKNESS of SIN.

John 8:21 ESV; Ephesians 4:18 ESV; 2 Corinthians 4:4 ESV; John 3:19–20 ESV; 1 John 1:7 ESV; John 12:46 ESV

When we come out of the darkness and allow our sins to be exposed, it purifies us.

There is no cleansing apart from Jesus.

Q.  As you reflect on your journey with Christ, where have you seen Him bring growth, clarity, or freedom in your life over time? How has walking in His light changed you?

Leader Prompt:

Keep the tone encouraging and grace-filled. Invite people to share stories of growth rather than struggles they may not be ready to voice. Emphasize that walking in the light is a process, and transformation often happens gradually. Celebrate evidence of God’s work, no matter how small, and reinforce that Jesus faithfully leads His people out of darkness over time.

Practical Application:

Confess any hidden struggle to the Lord privately in prayer. Then choose one specific action—such as reaching out for support, changing a routine, or practicing a new spiritual habit—to walk more fully in the light this week.

So who am I?

In Christ, I’m someone God has BROUGHT out of DARKNESS

and into the LIGHT to know and share Him with the WORLD.

Key Takeaways:

What are 3 key takeaways you received from this message?

Closing Prayer:

Lord Jesus, You declared that You are the Light of the world. Thank You for bringing us out of darkness and into Your light. Illuminate our way to the Father, guard us from empty opinions, and help us walk daily in truth. Shine through us so the world may know You. Amen.
