Operation Thanksgiving Update!

NORTH ATTLEBORO PLEASE NOTE: THEY ARE PACKING BAGS ON WEDNESDAY EVENING.  I BELIEVE THEY HAVE ENOUGH PEOPLE.  IF YOU REGISTERED FOR THURSDAY BUT STILL WANT TO HELP, BAGS WILL BE HANDED OUT AT CAPRON PARK FROM 10-12.  YOU CAN HELP THERE!  THANKS!

We’ve picked up the food, but we are still collecting monetary donations throughout the week!

Every gift helps us bless more families—thank you for your generosity!

Distribution Details — Saturday, November 22:

North Attleboro:

100 meals available from 10 AM – 12 PM at Capron Park, served on a first-come, first-served basis.

Woonsocket:

400 meals available from 9 AM – 12 PM at Waters Church, Woonsocket. First-come, first-served.

Southcoast:

200 meals available – 9 AM – 12 PM – Waters Church Southcoast – Taking registrations for delivery (to select towns) and pickup at the campus.

Apollo Beach:

100 meals are available for Gibsonton Elementary School

Let’s come together to make this Thanksgiving special for families in need.

Two opportunities to pray: 

Leaders only: Please be available at the end of services to pray for those who come forward. If you are not actively serving during the service you are attending, make it a priority to head to the front when the invitation is given. Your presence matters!

North Attleboro Leaders and members: If you are available, or any member of your group who currently serves is available, there is an opportunity to meet for prayer in the conference room off of the break room area during the second and third services.  Please see Doug and Joanie White or Felix Shyllon if you would like to be a part of that ministry.

Please note: if you have a member who is not currently serving and would like to be part of the prayer during the service team, please have them take the appropriate steps to become a serve team member.

Opening Prayer

Lord, we invite Your presence into this time. Open our hearts to Your Word, remove distractions, and help us see money the way You see it. Shape our hearts, renew our minds, and lead us toward greater trust in You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Luke 12:8-15 (ESV) 

The man in the parable of the rich fool became so consumed by money that he missed some of Jesus’ most powerful and important teachings.

Jesus is preaching about eternity, and this man wants to talk about equity.

People want Jesus to CHANGE their FINANCIAL SITUATION,

Jesus wants to CHANGE their HEART.

Luke 12:16–17 (ESV)

Money can dominate your mind, whether you are rich or poor.

Luke 12:18-19 (ESV)

Q. How does focusing on money—like the man in the parable—cause people to miss what Jesus is really trying to teach about the heart?

1. We are DOMINATED by MONEY when we think it’s OURS.

This man’s first mistake was wondering what he would do with this money for himself. 

Exodus 23:19 (ESV); Proverbs 3:9–10 (ESV)

God commends us that when it comes to what we receive, we should first give thanks and thought to God.

Romans 11:36 (ESV)

Three areas this man did not ACKNOWLEDGE God:

1. His PROSPERITY. (The land produced plentifully.)

2. His PRODUCTIVITY. (What shall I do?)

3. His PLANS. (I will… build bigger barns… and relax.)

Q. Which of these three areas—your prosperity, your productivity, or your plans—is most challenging for you to acknowledge as belonging to God rather than yourself?

Practical Application:

Choose one of these areas this week and intentionally acknowledge God’s ownership through prayer and obedience. (Leader: Ask if anyone would like to share.)

2. We are DOMINATED by MONEY when it becomes the

SOURCE of our IDENTITY.

Luke 12:19–21 (ESV)

The person dominated by money is a fool.

Money does not CHANGE who you are, it EXPOSES who you are.

Luke 16:10 (ESV)

What you have or what you want does not define you; only God can truly define you.

Q. How does money reveal a person’s true identity rather than change who they are? Can you share any specific examples?

Practical Application:

Practice one act of generosity in secret this week to remind your heart that your identity comes from God, not from money.

3. We are DOMINATED by MONEY when it causes us to

FORGET the FAITHFUL care of our FATHER.

Luke 12:22-28 (ESV)

Ravens (verse 24) are considered unclean scavengers.

The Father CARES for the UNCLEAN, WILD, and PASSING

things.

If the Father cares for the unclean, wild, and passing things, how much more will He care for you?

Q. What kinds of worries most often cause people to forget the faithful care of our Father?  Can you share something from your own experience?

Practical Application:

Each morning this week, write down two ways God has recently shown His care to strengthen your trust in Him.
