Recap from Fake News Part 1- Fake News is:
Delicious – we want to hear it.
Deceitful – we want to believe it.
Dangerous – it can kill us.
Fortitude is available.   We have to choose how to be strong.  We have to work at things to make sure certain areas of our lives are strong.  Jesus Christ is the source of our strength, not our feelings.  Sometimes, we don’t know what we have until we do some research.  We need to remember what we have in Him or we will be mis-led.  Beware of new-fangled ideas.
Q. What is something that you have been mis-lead by because you did not do your research?  What new-fangled ideas have you believed it because you did not understand who Christ is?
KNOWING WHAT WE HAVE  IN CHRIST WILL PROTECT US FROM THE LIE THAT ANYTHING  CAN OFFER US ANYTHING MORE.
Mankind outside of Jesus cannot find wisdom.  Outside of Christ we cannot find true love.  When we know we have the real thing, no other thing will do.
FORTITUDE IS AVAILABLE BECAUSE:
  1. JESUS CHRIST IS COSMIC LORD.
He is the image of the invisible God.  He is what the Father looks like.  If you want to know what God is like, look at Jesus.
Q. By following Jesus and getting to know Him, what are some characteristics do you now understand about God that you did not necessarily understand before and how does that make your faith stronger?   If you are a new believer, what are some things about His character that you still may not understand?
Jesus is the exact imprint of God’s character.  He is selfless, loving, kind and merciful.   God, who has holiness but at the same time, loves the least holy.  Jesus came to show us what God was like.  He leaves the 99 to go after that one lost sheep.  We all matter to our Father.  There is no greater power than Jesus.  He upholds the universe by His power! No demon in Hell can occupy territory where Jesus comes in and says ‘Get out’.
Q. Have you ever felt unloved and that you did not matter and why?  How had that changed when you realized that Jesus came and died on the cross for you?
Pastor Tim explained how God holds us together, that 99.9999 percent of our bodies is space.  There is no scientific explanation for this.
“We live in a world in which practically every object is a potential nuclear explosive, without being blown to bits… You grasp what this implies.  It implies that all the massive nuclei have no right to be alive at all.  Indeed, they should never have been created, they should have been blown up instantly.  Yet, here they all are… Some inflexible inhibition is holding them all together.” – George Gamow
  1. JESUS CHRIST IS THE CHURCH’S HEAD.
Church is not a building or good people wanting to do better.  The church is the Body of Christ.
He calls it the Body because we have to stay connected to the Head to stay alive.
Jesus said ‘abide in me and I will abide in you.’ The only way to flourish in Him is to stay connected to Christ.  Those who don’t stay connected wonder why their lives spiral out of control.
Q. What is an experience you may have witnessed where someone did not remain connected to the Body and their life spiraled out of control? How did they recover?
We gather together in Small Groups and in church because we grow stronger together.  No one is meant to do this alone.  We need to be connected to stay strong.
Q. What are some examples of how you have remained strong because of your Small Group?
  1. JESUS CHRIST IS THE CHRISTIAN’ FRIEND.
Before Christ came we were enemies of God.  We were at odds with God, but Jesus, in His death, bore the punishment for us.  Jesus paid it so we could be reconciled with the Father.  We are no longer a stranger, but a friend.  He did it because He loves us.
Q. What does it mean to be reconciled and why is this important?
He is Cosmic Lord, Churches Head and our Friend.
