The Antidote to Spiritual Amnesia

Optional Icebreaker: Pastor Tim talked about how he tends to forget things as he is getting older: names, his keys, his kids names etc. Can you relate? Share a funny story of a time you forgot something you should not have.

We can HEAR about WHO WE ARE… but LIFE can cause us to FORGET.

Discuss a time in your life when life caused you to forget that you already had the answer or “key” to solving a problem/situation in your life?

PRAYER is our KEY to TRULY LIVING in the REALITY of
Christ

Q: How can we utilize prayer habits to unlock truly living in the reality of Christ and His resources available to us? Share prayer habits and strategies that might encourage members in your group. (maybe some of us need a renewal in our prayer life or ideas on how start a prayer life)

might KNOW CHRIST & His RESOURCES available to
them.

Knowing Christ is the greatest blessing in life. There is nothing better in life than knowing Him. He redeems, guides and protects your life.

PRAY to KNOW and UNDERSTAND:
1. The HOPE of MY CALLING
Ephesians 1:18 (ESV)

Your temporal calling (your job, your family role etc) is not what’s in view in these scriptures. The call is that He has set you apart for His purposes eternally.

God’s call on your life is ETERNAL and PURPOSEFUL.

TRUTH: My LIFE is God’s IDEA, in God’s HAND, and will be WORKED OUT for God’s PLAN.

Q: What are some things in your life you are worried or anxious about that you need to let go of and have God Work out for His plan?

2. My BELONGING to God and His BELONGING to me.

A. I BELONG to GOD – THEREFORE: He never LOSES ME.

C. God BELONGS to ME – THEREFORE I’m PROVIDED for in EVERY SITUATION.

D. God BELONGS to ME- THEREFORE: I’m not ANXIOUS for ANYTHING.

God takes possession of us and never loses us. He is our shepherd.
Sometimes the enemy puts negative thoughts and voices in our minds. For example: you’re not good enough, you don’t matter, you’re a bad mom/dad, you’re stuck etc

Q: What are some negative “voices” in your head that you have already had victory over? Are there negative voices that you need victory over now?

PRAY to KNOW and UNDERSTAND:
3. The GREAT POWER of God AVAILABLE to ME.

TRUTH: God’s POWER is WORKING in my life in ways I
may not presently REALIZE. Discuss this TRUTH as a group Ephesians 1:20-21 (ESV)

SERMON in a SENTENCE:

Prayer is the KEY that opens my EYES to God’s CALLING on my LIFE, OWNERSHIP of my EXISTENCE, and POWER in every SITUATION.

Leaders take some time to pray over the things that your members are anxious over, or need reminders of that God is our provision. Use this time to pray and “unlock” what God has for us as believers.
