1 Kings 10
1 Kings 10:1-3 (ESV)
Solomon was known for his wisdom and for building the temple of the Lord. He was also known for his wisdom and and he was wise and answered all the the Queens questions without hindrance, for God was with him.
The Queen of Sheba heard of Solomon’s wisdom. She had come to see if what she had heard about Solomon was true. His wisdom extended beyond the questions she had.
The Queen of Sheba tested Solomon’s wisdom.
1 Kings 3:9 -12
James 1:5
Q. In what situations have you relied on God’s wisdom and how had He imparted that wisdom to you?
1 Kings 10:4-5 (ESV) & (AMP)
The Queen of Sheeba saw Solomon’s wisdom.
The Queen of Sheeba experienced Solomon’s wisdom.
The food/Cupbearers) = Cafe
The seating/attendance = Ushering/Guest services/Parking
The Stairway/The temple Burnt Offerings = The Worship Team/Production
After seeing all of this, the Queen was in awe.
Q1. Why was the Queen in awe of what she had heard, seen and experienced?
Q2. Where are you currently serving at Waters and if you are not, what areas would you like to serve in? (Leader: help those that are not serving discover their gifts – ICNU (I see in you…).
1 Kings 10:9
The Queen of Sheeba glorified God because of Solomon’s wisdom. A wisdom seen even in the building of the house of the Lord.
Imagine if people came into Waters Church and saw wisdom in the way the coffee was poured, saw wisdom in the way the parking team parks a car, or in the way that their kids are taught and because of this they glorified God?
Q. How can we present ourselves so others will see the wisdom of God and glorify him because of our acts of service?
1 Kings 7:51 (ESV); Proverbs 24:3 ESV
Yet Solomon was not faithful to the LORD.
1 Kings 11:1- 6 ESV
Yet, Solomon was not faithful to the Lord and his leadership has long lasting effects.
1 Kings 11:11-13 (AMP)
Because of his disobedience, Israel broke out in war and a United Israel is no more. The people rejoiced when Solomon did well and were in pain when he did not.
Q. When have you rejoiced and/or were in pain when a leader did well or when they did not (an employer, parent, teacher etc.)?
Proverbs 29:2 (NKJV) and (MSG); Psalm 146: 3(ESV)
Luke 19:10 (ESV)
Jesus is not A son of man He is THE Son of Man. He is more famous than Solomon.

Jesus is wiser than Solomon.
2. Jesus is tested.
Matthew 22:23 (ESV); Matthew 22:34-35 (ESV)
3. Jesus is Wise.
Matthew 22:33 ESV; Matthew 22:46 ESV
In other words no one dared to question His wisdom. No one would come to him to see if he was tried and true because He was True. He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, He is not just any king.
Q. Who is someone that you were afraid to question their wisdom and why?
Jesus is the one we want to follow, not Solomon.
1. Jesus is the builder of God’s True House: the Church
Psalm 127:1 ESV; Matthew 16: 18 (ESV);1 Peter 2:5 ESV
2. Jesus is the unifier of all people
Ephesians 2:13- 16 (ESV)
Imagine a church, a people who followed Jesus wholeheartedly, filled with His Wisdom and Love.
Mark 9:41 (ESV)
The Church of Jesus would serve coffee with eager expectation of their reward in Heaven.
Hebrews 13:2 (ESV)
They would greet strangers in His name because they believed that they may even be entertaining angels.
Matthew 19:14 (ESV)
They would love and teach children because they knew His heart for them.
Exodus 35:31 (ESV)
They would park cars with such skill because they knew that the Spirit of God gave them that skill.
Psalm 22:3; Hebrews 2:12
They would praise because they knew their Lord was among them and enthroned their praise.
Matthew 20:25 (ESV)
They would serve as He served.
Luke 11:31 (ESV)Hebrews 3:3-6 ESV
They would do so because they knew that someone greater than Solomon was in the house.
Q. What has been your experience serving in church and how does that relate to the passages above?
John 5:19 (ESV)
Sermon in a sentence: Jesus is our tried, tested and true King who built God’s true house and we serve to display his wisdom, love and majesty in all we do.
Challenge: If you are currently not serving, find a ministry that you can use your gifts.
If you are serving, serve with wisdom (serve as Jesus would serve) so others will glorify God.
