The New Testament speaks much more about Jesus’s return than His first coming.  It is important for us to understand what is going to happen when He comes again.

John 14:3 ESV

Jesus came, died, and rose on the third day.  Then fourteen days later Jesus ascended up to heaven.  The disciples were concerned and that is why He told them to not let their hearts be troubled.  He promises He is coming again.

Q. What troubles do you need to entrust to God today?

1. JESUS IS COMING FOR HIS CHURCH

He is coming for His Body, the ones that have been born again of God.

John 3:1-3 ESV

1 Thessalonians 4:13 KJV

Jesus will raise the dead and change the living. All of those who have committed their lives to Jesus who have passed away will be resurrected and those that are alive will be changed.

1 Corinthians 15:50-54 NIV

Q. What influence should the promise of the Second Coming have on you today?

1. JESUS IS COMING TO OVERTHROW THE EVIL TRINITY

God is triune: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit – They are co-equal.

The Devil is an imitator.  He cannot create or read minds but he can cause chaos throughout the world and he has his own trinity: The dictator beast (he will say he has an answer for all the worlds problems), the false prophet, and the Devil himself.  The False prophet will call fire from heaven and confuse many.  This is why we must be rooted and grounded in the word of God .  The world is looking for a man who will have solutions to our problems and people will worship him.  The anti-christ spirit has been in the world since the disciples, but there will be a man called Anti-christ that is coming who the world will worship.

Jesus will take the false prophet and the dictator beast and cast them into the Lake of Fire and bind Satan for 1000 years.

2 Thessalonians 2:8

Q. How can you strengthen your faith today so you will be ready to face any evils that will come?

1. JESUS IS COMING TO JUDGE THE NATIONS

Matthew 25:31-46

All the nations that have rejected Christ, He will judge them.

There will be great suffering of the Jewish people, but those who comfort them is who Jesus is talking about when He says: ’Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

Q. How would your behavior change if you treated each person in your life as if he or she were Jesus?

4. JESUS IS COMING FOR THE SALVATION OF ISRAEL

Israel is God’s people.  Adam and Eve were to reveal the glory of God to the nations but failed and God put them out of the Garden.  Israel is God’s chosen people and God reveals His glory through the nation of Israel.  They are the apple of his eye (Deuteronomy 32:10).  He reveals His glory through Israel.  Those who bless Israel shall be blessed and those who curse them will be cursed (Genesis 12:3).

John 19:37

God will judge Israel.  He came to His own and they did not receive Him.  When they see Him, they will bow down and worship God and he will give them an opportunity to be saved.   It is important that the Church continually pray for Israel.  God’s hand is upon them.

All Israel shall be saved. It is the promise of God to the people of Israel.

1. JESUS IS COMING TO USHER IN THE MILLENNIUM

Jesus will set up His Millennial Kingdom here on earth for 1000 years.   He is coming back to rule and reign and every person will see Him visibly.  This will be a time of peace, joy and hope.

Revelation 20:1-14

After 1000 years, Satan will turn those that did not submit to Jesus against Jesus but Jesus and the armies of heaven will destroy him and defeat him.  Satan will once and for all be cast into the Lake of Fire for all eternity.

Q. When have you felt that following Jesus is just too difficult and how does knowing that Millennium is coming give you motivation to continue in your journey with Him and not waiver?

6. JESUS IS COMING TO JUDGE THE WICKED OF ALL AGES

The Great White Thrown Judgement

All will be judged that rejected Him and they will be cast into the lake of fire.  The Book of Life will be opened and if their name is not in the Book they will be separated from God for eternity.

We must preach the truth.  We cannot afford to fool around.  Wickedness is going to abound.  We must take our salvation seriously.  We must not be tricked and let the things of this world rob us of the joy of the Lord.

Q. What can you do to remind yourself of the reality of a future judgment?

1. JESUS IS COMING TO INTRODUCE ETERNITY

Adam and Eve were created for eternity but disobeyed God so death has passed upon them to all men.  We as Christians, will spend eternity with God and nothing will stop God’s purposes from being fulfilled.  God’s mercies are new every morning.  When he comes we need to be ready.

Romans 20:13

Call on His Name.

Repent of your sin.

Surrender to Him and let Him be Lord of your life.

Confess Him before men – be a witness because He is coming back again!
