Waters Church Facebook Page now has groups set up for each campus and a group set up for Life Groups.

To join the groups, just go to the Waters Church FB page and go to groups and join the ones you want. Make sure you join the Life Group (group) so we can get people interested in joining a Life group. The Heach Coaches and I will be moderating the group and adding topics for discussion.

Why were you created?

If the devil can’t get you to SIN, he will get you to SUCCEED in things that DO NOT MATTER.

Suicide is at an all-time hight amongst Americans today.  Opioid addiction and suicide are at the top.  Regardless what we believe we need to know we have a sense of value.  The Devil gets us preoccupied with things that don’t matter in our lives.  Jesus came to give us purpose and a reason for living not just a ticket to heaven.  Those without Christ, are disconnected from a sense of purpose. 

Q. What are some ways Satan has preoccupied you with things that don’t matter?

When you are DISCONNECTED from PURPOSE:

1. POSSESSIONS can become your PREOCCUPATION.

2. PEOPLE can become your COMPETITION.

3. NOTHING can give you SATISFACTION.

This is where envy, comparison and contrasting come in.  Looking at others social media feeds and seeing they have more stuff than us, this is pride.  Other people are not our enemy or competition.  They are made in God’s image.  We are here to bring glory to Jesus so other people will know their Maker.

Q. Who might you be trying to compete with and why?  What satisfaction do you think that will give you (co-worker, relative, neighbor etc.)?

Luke 13:10–11 (ESV); Luke 13:12 (ESV)

It looked like this woman had a physical ailment.  Jesus speaks over her life and tells her she is freed. He did not say healed (Freed – Diminished ability). Her condition was spiritual not physical.  The same is true for humanity today.

Jesus identified that her PHYSICAL LIMITATION was the result of a SPIRITUAL CONDITION.

Luke 13:16 (ESV)

More often our problem is not physical, it is spiritual.

Romans 8:20–21 (ESV)

Creation is in bondage to a spiritual condition.

We are B.E.N.T. out of PURPOSE.

= B.lame E.very N.atural T.hing for our limitations.

Q. What physical limitations have you had that were a result of a spiritual condition and who or what did you blame for this limitation and why?

1: Jesus came to SET ME FREE from Satan’s LIE that there’s no POINT to LIFE.

Luke 13:12-16 (ESV)

Jesus saw her, called her, spoke to her, declared over her, touched her and healed her. He declared what she was: the daughter of Abraham.  The Devil’s plan was to get her to look down for her entire life.

Genesis 12:2–3 (ESV)

There was a purpose to his naming him Abraham – so he could be a blessing.  It was not just to bless him, but to use him for a purpose.  We are blessed to be a blessing.  We are to be the light in the dark places.

Jesus RESTORED this woman to her INBORN PURPOSE – a Daughter of Abraham – a BLESSING to the NATIONS.

Q. How is your life shining a light in the darkness (where you work, live, or go to school – who and how are you blessing with what you have been blessed with)?

2: Jesus came to DEFEND my God-given PURPOSE.

Our purpose in Christ is always under attack.

Luke 13:14 (ESV); Luke 13:15 (ESV)

When religion ties us up in traditions and rituals we are no good to anyone.  Jesus stands up for this woman because the people did not care about her.

Jesus doesn’t just GIVE us purpose – He PROTECTS it.

1 Thessalonians 5:23–24 (ESV)

The God who calls us completes us.  God protects us.  The devil will come after us.  It is when things are going really well or really bad he attacks us.

Q. What are some examples of when you were under attack by the enemy and how did God show up to protect you (maybe when something good happened, maybe when you lost someone or something etc.)?

Luke 13:17 (ESV)

The word of God keeps us in the purposes of God.  When we feel we are not worthy, God gets closer not further.  He is closest to the broken to finish the work He started.

3: Jesus came to EXPAND the VISION of my God-given PURPOSE

Whatever we do, we are going to make a world changing difference through Jesus.

Luke 13:18–19 (ESV)

The mustard seed –  smallest seed that was outlawed because it was unstoppable. We may feel rejected too, but if we are in Christ, we are part of an unstoppable movement the has taken over the world!

Q. How do you see your purpose now especially knowing that you are part of an unstoppable movement?
