NOTE:
Two opportunities to pray:
Leaders only: Please be available at the end of services to pray for those who come forward. If you are not actively serving during the service you are attending, make it a priority to head to the front when the invitation is given. Your presence matters!
North Attleboro Leaders and members: If you or any member of your group who currently serves is available, there is an opportunity to meet for prayer in the conference room off the break room during the second and third services. Please see Doug and Joanie White or Felix Shyllon if you would like to be a part of that ministry.
Please note: if you have a member who is not currently serving and would like to be part of the prayer during the service team, please have them take the appropriate steps to become a serve team member.
NORTH ATTLEBORO
Prayer at the Altar – AFTER SERVICES
If possible, please make an effort to be at the altar after this service to pray for others.
Your presence makes a difference—thank you for serving!
**Please read all scripture in the ESV, unless otherwise noted.**
**The Leader prompts help you, as the leader, move the conversation along.**
Key Verse: Hebrews 11
Ice Breaker Question:
Q. If you had to wait one year to receive something completely free, what would be worth the wait?
Have fun with it—dream vacation, new car, dream house, unlimited Chick-fil-A, anything!
Opening Prayer
Father, thank You for bringing us together. As we talk about faith in the waiting, help us trust You when we cannot see what You are doing. Teach us to obey You, remain faithful through discomfort, and trust Your plan for our lives. Strengthen our faith and help us hear from You today. In Jesus’ name, amen.

There will be times in a Christian’s life when you cannot see where you are going. It is easy to begin, but hard to continue when you cannot fully see where God is leading you.
Even when life does not make sense, we need to have faith.
Galatians 3:7 ESV
Abraham models faith that goes beyond the FIRST STEP.
Abraham lived 100 years to see God’s promises.
We need Abraham’s faith in the waiting; we need it when things are unclear.
Q. What helps you keep trusting and following God when you can’t see where He is leading you?
Faith in the waiting understands:
- OBEDIENCE is more important than OUTCOME.
Many measure God by the outcome. However, the life of faith calls us to press on amid challenges and struggles.
We need to obey God regardless of the outcome.
Hebrews 11:8 ESV
Abraham’s faith caused him to obey.
Faith must be rooted in WHO we follow, not just WHERE we are
going.
You serve God because He is God in your life and of your life.
Joshua 24:2 ESV; Genesis 12:1, 4 ESV
Abraham was called out of Ur, but he never got all the way to where he was headed right away. His obedience was complicated, but he still obeyed God.
Forget yesterday, OBEY TODAY.
Q. What is one area where you know what God is asking you to do, but you’ve been hesitant to obey because you’re unsure of the outcome?
Leader Prompt: Encourage the group to consider what may be holding them back—fear, uncertainty, comfort, or wanting to know the outcome before taking the next step.
Practical Application: Choose one step of obedience you know God is asking you to take, and take it this week—leaving the outcome to Him.
Faith in the waiting understands:
2. DISCOMFORT does not mean I’m in the WRONG PLACE.
Sometimes discomfort is God’s will.
You cannot measure God’s will by the external peace you feel. Don’t mistake peace for the plan of God.
Hebrews 11:9 ESV
Genesis 23:2–4 ESV
Abraham is the model for life’s waiting period.
Romans 8:22–25 ESV
Discomfort means we are not home yet.
There will always be some measure of discomfort in your life.
Philippians 3:20–21 NLT
Q. Where are you experiencing discomfort right now that may actually be part of where God wants you to remain faithful?
Leader Prompt: Encourage the group to consider how easily we can equate God’s will with comfort. What helps us stay faithful when obedience feels difficult rather than peaceful?
Practical Application: Identify an uncomfortable situation where you may be questioning God’s direction. Instead of judging it by how it feels, return to what God has already made clear through His Word and remain faithful in your next step.
Faith in the waiting understands:
3. God’s DESIGN will OUTSHINE my DISCOMFORT along
the way.
Hebrews 11:10 ESV
Abraham looked forward, not backward. He made it through because he knew great comfort was on the way.
The perfect life does not exist this side of Jesus’s return.
Revelation 21:1–3 ESV
Q. How does keeping God’s eternal promises in view change the way we handle present discomfort?
Leader Prompt: Encourage the group to look beyond what is temporary. How can focusing on what God is preparing help us remain faithful when the journey is difficult?
Practical Application: When discomfort becomes your focus, intentionally shift your attention to God’s promises. Remind yourself that what you are experiencing now is temporary, but what God has prepared is eternal.
Sermon in a Sentence:
Faith in the waiting OBEYS God through the DISCOMFORT of the
present because it’s FOCUSED on a PERFECT future.
Closing Prayer
Father, help us trust You in the waiting, obey You without knowing the outcome, and remain faithful even when the journey is uncomfortable. Keep our eyes on Your promises and remind us that Your plan is always worth the wait. In Jesus’ name, amen.
