NOTE:

Two opportunities to pray:

Leaders only: Please be available at the end of services to pray for those who come forward. If you are not actively serving during the service you are attending, make it a priority to head to the front when the invitation is given. Your presence matters!

North Attleboro Leaders and members: If you are available, or any member of your group who currently serves is available, there is an opportunity to meet for prayer in the conference room off of the break room area during the second and third services.  Please see Doug and Joanie White or Felix Shyllon if you would like to be a part of that ministry.

Please note: if you have a member who is not currently serving and would like to be part of the prayer during the service team, please have them take the appropriate steps to become a serve team member.

NORTH ATTLEBORO

Prayer at the Altar – AFTER SERVICES

If possible, please make an effort to be at the altar after this service to pray for others.

Your presence makes a difference—thank you for serving!

**Please read all scripture in the ESV, unless otherwise noted.**

Key Verse: Acts 12:1-12
Ice Breaker:
Q. What’s something you would never want to do alone—but would absolutely do if you had other people with you?
Opening Prayer :
Heavenly Father, thank You for calling us together as Your Church. Thank You that we don’t have to walk through life or faith alone. As we gather today, quiet our distractions, soften our hearts, and draw our attention to You. Teach us to trust the power of prayer—not just individually, but together as Your people. Help us believe that when we pray, You hear us, You move, and You work in ways far greater than we can see. Unite us in faith, deepen our dependence on You, and shape us into the kind of church that reflects Your power and Your love. Amen.

The key takeaway in Acts 12 is that God’s power is shown when the church comes together in prayer.

Leader Insight Box
Some in the group may find it hard to trust that prayer changes things, especially when outcomes seem uncertain. Gently encourage everyone by reminding them that Scripture shows God listening and responding to prayer, even when our faith feels weak.

A PRAYERFUL church is a POWERFUL church.
CORPORATE PRAYER: Christians gathering in unity to pray with one voice, focusing on worshipping God, interceding for the community, and expressing shared trust.
Acts 2:42 NLT
Through corporate prayer, God PROVIDES The CHURCH:
His Presence
Unity
Boldness
Thanksgiving
Q. What do you think is gained when we pray together as a church that we might miss when we only pray alone?
HEAVEN moves when The Church PRAYS
Acts 12:5 ESV
Even though everyone expected King Herod to kill Peter, the Church prayed for a miracle, most likely his release.
The Church did not pray for the exact details of the miracle.
We don’t need to focus too much on praying for the right things; we do need to seek God and make our requests known with thanksgiving.
NOT PRAYING is the only thing WRONG to do with PRAYER.
Acts 12:6-16 ESV
God WORKS even when I DON’T BELIEVE
The believers were more prepared for Peter’s death than for God’s answer to their prayers.
Together they prayed in desperation.
Romans 5:6-8 NIV
Q. What stands out to you about how the church prayed in Acts 12, even when their expectations were low?
Leader Prompt:
Encourage honest discussion. Emphasize that prayer is trusting God, not outcomes.
Practical Application:
Commit to bringing a real need before God this week through prayer, choosing to pray consistently rather than perfectly.

1. Jesus SHINES in my life where I’m CONSUMED by DARKNESS.

Acts 12:7 ESV; John 1:5 ESV
Darkness, in the Bible, usually refers to death, evil, and demonic.
In the Bible, light often symbolizes life, truth, and holiness.
John 8:12 NIV; 1 John 1:5 ESV
We are imprisoned by sin.  The Bible tells us that we are dead in our sin and alive in Christ.  Jesus is the only one who came to rescue us from death and give us new life.  Jesus is the only one powerful enough to conquer what we can not: the grip of sin in our lives.
Jesus gives us new life and makes us a part of the Church.  God has a lot for us through gathering with the church in prayer.
Q. Where have you seen Jesus bring light into areas of darkness—either in your life or someone else’s?
Leader Prompt:
Be sensitive. Remind the group that the Gospel gives hope and the Church supports healing.
Practical Application:
Identify one area of your life where you need the light of Christ and intentionally bring it before God in prayer, trusting Him for freedom and renewal.
Sermon in a Sentence:
Through JESUS, I am part of the CHURCH, and when we GATHER in prayer, heaven
moves—because a PRAYERFUL church is a POWERFUL church.
Closing Prayer:
Lord, thank You for making us part of Your Church and inviting us to pray together. Teach us to depend on You, to bring our needs honestly before You, and to trust that You are at work even when we struggle to believe. May our prayers reflect our faith in You and bring glory to Your name. Amen.
