NOTE:

Two opportunities to pray:

Leaders only: Please be available at the end of service to pray for those who come forward. If you are not actively serving during the service you are attending, make it a priority to head to the front when the invitation is given. Your presence matters!

North Attleboro Leaders and members: If you are available, or any member of your group who currently serves is available, there is an opportunity to meet for prayer in the conference room off of the break room area during the second and third services.  Please see Doug and Joanie White or Felix Shyllon if you would like to be a part of that ministry.

Please  Note: if you have a member who is not serving currently and would like to be a part of the prayer during the service team, please have them take the appropriate steps to become a serve team member.

Key Verse: 2 Timothy

Icebreaker Question:

What’s the most embarrassing or bold thing you’ve ever done in public?”

Opening Prayer:

Lord, thank You for Your Spirit that gives us power, love, and a sound mind. Remove every trace of fear from our hearts tonight. Fill us with boldness to live and share the gospel with confidence and love. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Defeating the Spirit of Fear

1. God has not given us a spirit of fear—He gives us power.

2 Timothy 1:7, Romans 1:16

Fear silences the Spirit’s work in us, but confidence in the gospel releases God’s power.

Q. What fears hold believers back from boldly sharing their faith?

Practical Application:

This week, identify one person to share your faith with. Ask God for courage and believe His power will work through you.

Leader Prompt:

Encourage members to share stories of when they overcame fear to witness or pray for someone.

2. God gives us love that casts out fear.

1 John 4:18

Perfect love drives away fear. When we listen, care, and love people sincerely, the Holy Spirit moves through us.

Q. Think of someone you know who’s struggling or distant from God. How have you or how might you show them genuine love, really caring, help open their heart to hear about Jesus?”

Practical Application:

Take time to listen to someone who is truly hurting this week. Show love through compassion, prayer, or a kind word.

3. God gives us a sound mind.

John 5:19, James 1:5

A sound mind comes from knowing God’s Word and recognizing His activity around us. Fear loses its grip when we see what God is already doing.

Q. What helps you stay alert to what God is doing in your life or in others? What may hinder you from staying alert to what God is doing?

Practical Application:

Spend time in Scripture each day this week. Ask God to show you where He’s already working and how you can join Him.

Leader Prompt:

Remind your group that discernment and wisdom come from being in the Word and from daily prayer.

Key Takeaways:

What are three key takeaways you received from this message?

Closing Prayer:

Father, thank You for giving us power, love, and a sound mind. Help us reject fear and live boldly for You. Fill us with Your Spirit to share the gospel with confidence, love people deeply, and walk in wisdom every day. In Jesus’ name, amen.
