Opening Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for your calling on our lives and the example You give us through men like Nehemiah. Help us to grow into people who reflect Your reign through faith, worship, conviction, and action. Give us strength, humility, and a heart that follows Jesus in every area of our lives. Amen.

Throughout church history, whenever it seemed like faith was fading, God raised people to spark revival—from the Reformers to the leaders of the Great Awakenings. In Nehemiah 11, we see a similar spiritual resurgence, this time led by the men of Israel.
CIVILIZATIONS RISE AND FALL ON MEN
Men do not want to be feminized and tranquilized by culture.
The Bible gives men the RESPONSIBILITY of HEADSHIP in the HOME, the CHURCH, and CULTURE.
1 Corinthians 11:3 ESV
HEADSHIP is not a POWER TRIP. It’s RESPONSIBILITY.

Men who Reign with God:
1. Are CHOSEN by God and COMMITTED by choice.
Nehemiah 11:1–2 (ESV)
Proverbs 16:33 (ESV)
The men of Israel both received a call from God and chose to live for God.
God’s hand is all over your decision to follow Christ. God chose you to choose Christ.
Moving into the city was dangerous for the men of Israel, but they willingly offered themselves after being chosen by a lot.
Knowing I’ve been CHOSEN fuels ACCEPTANCE of the COST.
Philippians 1:29
Q: What does it look like in your life to willingly accept the cost of following Christ, knowing that he has chosen you?
Practical Application:
Identify where you’ve hesitated to advance in service or sacrifice. This week, commit to it—knowing you are chosen and called by God for a purpose beyond comfort.
Men who Reign with God:
2. EMBRACE the FIGHT with God’s MIGHT.
To complete rebuilding this city, it needed to be MANNED by fearless men willing to fight for their home.

Valiant – in Hebrew, it means strength, valor, wealth, and excellence.
Christian men should strive for real success: growing in their abilities, increasing their wealth, and developing their competence.

God wants you to win.
Q. How can you embrace the spiritual battles in your life with courage and strength rather than shrinking back in fear?
Practical Application:
Write down one spiritual struggle you’re facing. Find a scripture to pray over daily this week, and ask someone to stand with you.
Men who Reign with God:
3. LIFT up HANDS in worship and DIRTY them in the WORK.
Nehemiah 11:17 – The men were the leaders of the praise and the thanksgiving.

Lifting hands is about surrender to God and victory in Christ.

Men did not just worship; they worked. These men sang and served.
Q: Why must our faith include worship and action, not just one or the other?
Practical Application:
Spend focused time this week in both worship and service. Start by dedicating time to prayer, then choose one task to serve someone in your church, home, or community.
Men who Reign with God:
4. Live by CONVICTION and WIN the World’s ATTENTION.

Ezra 6:9–10 (ESV)
The Persian pagan king had come to find value in the faith of the men of Israel. Then, 13 years later, the provision from this king is still coming daily as required. This is favor from God.
There are many examples in the Bible of men who chose to serve God’s purposes in pagan places and caught the attention of their bosses, receiving the favor of those over them.
Christian conviction is not the way to OBSCURITY; it’s the path to NOBILITY.
Q: How can living with unwavering Christian conviction in a secular environment open doors for influence and bring glory to God? What personal testimony can you share regarding this?
Practical Application:
Reflect on one area where your convictions are being challenged. Write a short personal mission statement and aim to live it out boldly this week as a light to others.

5. Follow JESUS as the PATTERN of God’s TRUE man.

Jesus is the True man who reigned with God as God the Son.
