Key Verse: Numbers 10

The Old Testament is about the law.  The New Testament is about grace.

We are living in the period of grace but this will come to an end when Jesus returns to earth.  The Bible tells us many signs will take place and we are seeing many of the prophecies being fulfilled.

The Old Testament is revealed in the New Testament.

In the New Testament, Jesus says these two things are important:  To love the Lord God and to love your neighbor as yourself (Mark 12:30-31).  In keeping these two commandments you fulfill the commandments of the Old Testament law.

For 400 years Israel lived in bondage under a cruel taskmaster, Pharaoh.  They cried out to God and He heard their cries and raised Moses to bring them out and God promised them the Promised Land.

The Church today is very much the same as Israel.  We were also a people who suffered under a cruel taskmaster, the Devil.  Jesus came and we were delivered.  God brought us out of suffering.  Now, we are headed for the Promised Land!

1 Peter 2:10

Though we still have trials and enemies, we can be confident God will never leave us nor forsake us.  He will provide for us.

(Philippians 4:19).

Q. In the challenges and trials you are facing today, how are you experiencing God’s provision and sensing His presence during this challenging period?

Numbers 10:1-10 (NKJV)

This passage reflects Israel’s start of their journey to the Promised Land.

Four trumpet sounds that are applicable in the Church today:

  1. The Trumpet Sound to Call the People Together

We are living in the End Times and we are seeing the signs of Christ’s return.  The harvest is ripe as hearts are being prepared to come to Him.  We, as Christians, need to share the Good News and He will draw them to Himself.

It is important to come together as the people of God.

Hebrews 10:25

When we come together, something Supernatural happens.  The Holy Spirit moves and touches our hearts.  We are gathered to be encouraged, instructed, and anointed by the Holy Spirit to go into a dark world and set captives free.  We are gathered to be scattered.

The world needs to hear the message of John the Baptist.

Matthew 3:2

Q.  Can you share personal experiences where gathering with fellow believers led to a significant spiritual encounter or growth? How do these gatherings strengthen your faith and prepare you for the mission of setting captives free in a dark world?

2. The Trumpet Sound to Prepare the People for the Journey

We are on this journey and we want to make sure people come with us.  The call of the Holy Spirit is for the whole Church.  All Christians can lay hands on the sick, not just certain people.  We are called and God has a plan and purpose for all of us.

Everyone born-again has an anointing, not just the pastor, preachers, or worship team.    We need the power of the Holy Spirit we cannot do it on our own.   He will empower you and you may have a tremendous impact on someone’s lie who is desperate.

Q. How does the understanding that you are called to lay hands on the sick and participate in ministry affect your view of your ministry and your role within the church? What are some practical ways in which you can live out this calling in your daily life and community?

3. The Trumpet Sound to Prepare the People for War

We are soldiers enlisted into God’s army.  We need not get tied up with the affairs of the world for it is going to get darker for the disobedient.

There is a battle going on about Truth. There is so much lies and propaganda today.  We must be prepared for battle.

Ephesians 6:10-17

The Devil is attacking the Church, the people of God.  It is when we are separated and alone that he attacks us.  We are in a battle for TRUTH.

Q. How can you practically “put on” this armor in your daily lives to resist the Devil’s attacks and stand firm in Truth?

4. The Trumpet Sound for the People to Celebrate

Blow the trumpet and enjoy your feast!

We are also called to rejoice.  We are to celebrate in the midst of the storm when everything is falling apart!

Ephesians 5:18 and 19-21

We need to sing a song of victory no matter what we are going through.

Challenge:  Spend time each day putting on the “armor of God” through prayer, meditation on Ephesians 6:10-17, and committing to stand firm in truth. Be mindful of the battles against lies and propaganda in your daily life.
