Key Verse: Proverbs 3

Ice breaker:

Q. If you had to choose only one restaurant to eat at for the rest of your life, what would that be and why?

Trust is risky, dangerous, difficult, and painful because we cannot see the other side of it.  It requires a lot of effort, but it also has many benefits.

Trust provides physical and mental health.  It makes us more effective at work by working together as a team.  Trust reduces anxiety and depression because we are more willing to open up and share sensitive things.  It builds self-esteem and protects from illness because we can cope and recover faster.

We need to trust the Lord.  We may not understand all of the Lord’s instructions, commandments, or ways of living but we respect Him with fear and reverence towards them.  Wisdom begins with ‘the fear of the Lord’. Fear equals reverence and respect.

‘Really Big Things’ is not about the money, it is all about trust.  Where is our trust?  Money represents safety, security, wealth/status, and success.  But, You will never find these things because of money or anything else in this world.  These things are only found in God.

I Can Trust God When:

  1. I remember His teaching and keep His commandments.

Proverbs 3:1-2 (ESV)

DOING THIS BRINGS A PEACEFUL LIFE.

Proverbs 16:7 (ESV); Mark 4:39 (ESV); Philippians 4:6-7 (ESV)

Q. Considering the promise of a peaceful life, can you share an experience where you had peace in a difficult situation by trusting in God?

I Can Trust God When:

2. I keep His steadfast love and faithfulness at the center of my life.

Proverbs 3:3-4

DOING THIS BRINGS GOOD REPUTATION, FAVOR, AND SUCCESS.

Genesis 6:8 (ESV); Proverbs 8:35 (ESV); Luke 1:30 (ESV); Luke 2:40 (ESV)

Jesus, as a boy, after remaining in the temple after Joseph and Mary left, was submissive to his parent’s instructions even though they did not understand what He was saying to them.

Luke 2:52 (ESV)

Q. Can you share specific examples of how keeping God’s steadfast love and faithfulness at the center of your life impacts the way you relate to others and improves your interactions in various areas of your life?

I Can Trust God When:

3. I Believe in His way more than my own.

Proverbs 3:5-8 (ESV)

DOING THIS CLEARS MY PATH, HEALS, AND RESTORES ME.

Psalm 37:5 (ESV); Proverbs 28:26

Leaning on one’s own understanding is more than failing to pray about decisions.  It is more like being wise in one’s own eyes, that is, believing that one can determine what is right and wrong without guidance from God and his gift of wisdom.

Q. What practical steps can we take to cultivate a deeper trust in God’s way over our own, especially in areas where we feel competent or confident in our judgment?

I Can Trust God When:

4. Honor Him with the wealth I have.

Proverbs 3:9-10 (ESV)

DOING THIS FILLS ME PLENTY.

THE WISDOM OF THIS WORLD IS INSUFFICIENT AND I NEED SUPERNATURAL HELP.

Romans 5:18-21 (ESV)

Q. How can we practically honor God with our wealth according to Proverbs 3:9-10, and what does this look like in our daily lives?

Sermon in a sentence:

The beginning of Trusting God is Faith in Jesus and then my Trust in Him will be Strengthened.

Challenge:

Identify one area of your life (e.g., relationships, work, personal goals) where you can more intentionally demonstrate God’s steadfast love and faithfulness. Implement one practical action this week to embody these qualities, such as showing unconditional love, offering forgiveness, or remaining faithful in commitments even when it’s challenging.
