Waters Church Facebook Page now has groups set up for each campus and a group set up for Life Groups.

To join the groups, just go to the Waters Church FB page and go to groups and join the ones you want. Make sure you join the Life Group (group) so we can get people interested in joining a Life group. The Heach Coaches and I will be moderating the group and adding topics for discussion.

We can’t learn from other people’s experiences.  We learn through Real Life Experiences.  The wilderness is an experience intended to teach us.

 

We are not those who shrink back but press on and persevere! We were all enslaved spiritually and some of us are still enslaved spiritually.  Though we can come out of Egypt it can take a while for Egypt to come out of us. We have to learn to be free.

Exodus 17:8 (ESV)

Rephidim means resting place.  Some of us have grown to appreciate the rest. Some may have gotten accustomed to this new normal.  But our resting place is not our final place.  Don’t get comfortable.  We have to move forward. Eventually, God will allow our resting place to become a stressing place

Q. If this is you, how have you become comfortable in this ‘resting place’ and why is this dangerous?

Exodus 17:9-13

As a Christian we have to learn to fight.  We have to stop letting every hit come at us. Depression, fear, anxiety is pounding us and we have to move forward and fight in the name of Jesus.

Joshua went from slave to soldier with one decision.  It happens physically first and then the Spirit will fill us.  We have to step out.  We cannot wait for God to help us ‘feel’ before doing.  We need to learn how to embrace new seasons. 

Q. What moment are you waiting for God to do something first, before you are willing to step out in faith in a particular situation?

Numbers 13:25-28 (ESV)

10 spies say they cannot do it and 2 say they can.   The descendants of Anak (the Amalekites) are there. God saved them from one season, he will save them in this season. We also have to learn how to ignore the majority.  The God who got us through everything else is able to bring us out of whatever we are going through now. 

The same ENEMY they DEFEATED in their PAST was INTIMIDATING them in their PRESENT!

They got so fixated on their enemy they forgot who their friend was.

Q. What enemy from the past, had you defeated, still intimidates you and why (examples could be addiction, anxiety, fear, etc.)?

1. It’s EASY to get STUCK in the WILDERNESS.

Q. What situation are you currently ‘stuck’ in and why?

We are followers of Chris and we cannot stay here forever.  We cannot let what has happened in the past disable us now.

2. With the LORD, it’s POSSIBLE to MOVE on from the WILDERNESS.

‘Write and recite it.’  We may need to write it out and recite it in Jesus Name

‘I am going to be free from________ in Jesus Name.  I am going to ______ in Jesus Name etc.’

Q. What do you need to write and recite in Jesus name?

Deuteronomy 25:17–18 (ESV)

‘Cut off your tail’ – they attack those that are lagging from behind.   The devil waits until we are weary and then attacks us from behind.

Q. How has the devil attacked you when you were weary?

OUR PRESENT REALITY is a BATTLE not a BARBECUE

A. We have a SPIRITUAL ENEMY who was DISABLED at the Cross.

Satan is active but he is disarmed.  He can come and speak into our ears but he is disarmed.

Colossians 2:15 (ESV)

B. We have a SPIRITUAL ENEMY who is still SEEKING to INTIMIDATE US from our INHERITANCE.

Satan disabled but he is active.

Q. What lies are you listening to from the devil that are keeping you from moving you forward in a current situation (this could be any present situation you are in)?

1 Peter 5:8 (ESV)

C. We will have VICTORY over our ENEMY if we DO NOT GIVE UP.

We need to press on through the tough times.

Q. What victories have you had because you did not give up?

3. We have a CHOICE: DIE in the WILDERNESS or THRIVE in God’s PROMISES.

Q. What can you do in your personal life to ensure that you do no ‘die’ in your wilderness experience (maybe its to stop listening to negative people, turn off the tv, get into God’s word etc.)?
