Who is Your Next Apprentice
An apprentice is a teachable group member who has the potential to be a great group leader in the future.
Nine traits for you Next Leader
Character: Titus 1:7-8 – Leaders are patient, kind, compassionate, encourage participation and can relate to others.
Discipline: 1 Timothy 3:23 & 1 Timothy 3:9 – Leader cannot be short-tempered, but gently guide. Leaders who pray and not gossip.
Temperament: Philippians 2:3 & Galatians 5:22-23 – Communicate effectively; avoid quarrels and gently guide discussions; sensitive to the needs of the entire group not letting one person dominate or travel down bunny trails.
Sincerity: Matthew 6:19-21 – Leaders who have a heart for God, people and groups. Not biblical scholars. Apprentice traits include: the need to grow, they pray, read the Bible, grow in faith, and they must meet the needs of their group. These are not friend groups (horizontal), but these are times of worship (vertical).
People-Centered: Titus 1:8, Timothy 3:2 & Philippians 2:4 – People person. Relate to members and leaders.
Faithful to the Word: 1 Timothy 3:9 & Titus 1:9 – Committed to the faith. Recognize and refute false teaching.
Experience: 1 Timothy 3:6 – No newbies.
