Life Groups | Lesson 1 “What Your eFam Group Looks Like”

Congratulations on taking this Next Step and deciding to lead a Waters Church eFam Group.  In this lesson, I would like to walk you through a typical eFam Group.  In groups, we want to connect people with God and one another.

1. PrayPray before your meeting, pray for the right people to join .  Ask God to bless your time together and ask the Holy Spirit to direct your conversation.

2. Greet your online membersWhile you are waiting for everyone to log on, start a conversation or even use an icebreaker. You can ask everyone a little bit about themselves, how they found Waters on-line campus, get people talking and getting to know each other.

3. Bring up your guide on your device.  Everyone has logged on and is ready to start.    At this point, you can open in prayer or wait and pray when you have finished going over the guide.  At the top of your guide are announcements, then the message notes from the weekend service.  Go through the guide and ask the questions allowing everyone to participate.  Try not to answer right away but give others a chance to ponder the question and answer.  This will promote conversation about the topic.  Have the members read the scriptures as they come up, this will encourage them to open their Bible or smartphone Bible app and search for the scripture for themselves.

4. Facilitate your group.  As the eFam Leader, part of your role is to keep things running on track.  When you have finished the guide this would be a good time to pray for each other’s needs, your community and the church.

5. End on time.  Since this is an on-line group, you may want to limit this time to no more than one hour to one hour and a half.  You may want to stay logged in and chat to get to know each other better after you have gone through the message, questions, and prayer.

Key elements for every small group are prayer, a conversation about the weekend’s message and fellowship.

There you have it!  I hope this helps you as you begin your journey as a Waters Church eFam Leader.

This does not conclude your training but is merely only the beginning.  Once your apprentice process has ended,  you will receive more in-depth training.
