First Wednesday | “Prayer Moves the Hand of God”

Key Verse: Acts 13

It is not our job to tell the Holy Spirit what we want Him to do and expect Him to bless it.  We should be partnering with what the Holy Spirit wants to do and ask Him to bless that.  What we want is flawed.  The Holy Spirit has been actively and powerfully moving in people’s lives, converting people to Jesus for over 2000 years!

Acts 13:1-4 ESV

The WORSHIP and PRAYER of the Church gave birth to the Spirit’s SPEAKING…and then SETTING APART and SENDING members of the church into the mission of Jesus.

If we are not seeking, praying, and fasting, we won’t hear God. The book of Acts is a pattern of how God works through the Holy Spirit.

Acts 2:1-4 ESV

Patterns of the Church

Acts 2:42 ESV

Apostles teaching – The New Testament

Fellowship – united together in commonality

Breaking of Bread – small groups/gathering in homes

Prayer

Acts 2:45-46 ESV

They loved one another, cared for one another and opened their lives up to others in the Church.  There is power in community.  Ecclesiastes 4:12  ESV‘And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.’

Acts 2:47 ESV

As a result of this, many got saved!

Prayer is the key.  A church that seeks the heart of God, prays.

Acts 6:4 ESV, Acts 6:45-35 ESV

We need to pray to see God move in our generation.

4 KEYS TO POWERFUL PRAYER

1. WE ENTER WITH CONFIDENCE BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS.

Hebrews 10:19-22 ESV

2. WE COME IN WORSHIP AND PRAISE.

Psalm 100:4 ESV, Psalm 34:3 ESV

Lift Him up and let Him know that you know who He is.

3. WE REMIND GOD OF WHAT HE SAID.

Isaiah 62:6-7 ESV, 1 Peter 3:9 ESV

A woman in our church prayed 20 years for her husband and the day before he died he accepted Christ!

4. WE HAVE TO CRY OUT!

Say it like you mean it.  Say it in a loud voice. Take hold of heaven.

Romans 15:30 ESV, Romans 8:34 ESV

Ask Him to move in our church!
