15 Mar First Wednesday Re-Cap | “Stuck in the Middle”
Are you stuck in the middle of something? Job, marriage, school, education etc.
The disciples were in the middle of the sea. Jesus had sent them there.
Moses was in the middle of the desert for 40 years. David was in the middle of a cave running from Saul.
Jesus was in the middle trying to get away from the crowd to pray. On one side of Him was haters and the other side was halers. This is a spectrum in which we abide daily. If we act right away, the halers will continue to love us. If we please the haters then they will not hate us. Some of us are being pulled in each direction and if we are not careful, we will compromise our calling. Jesus never gave into to either of them.
It is better to be where Jesus wants us rather than to enjoy the pleasures and promises of ‘these’ people. He has the power to still your storm.
1. THE MIDDLE DOESN’T MEAN THAT GOD IS NOT WORKING.
Jesus was tortured, put to death and raised to life and is heaven praying for us right now. He prays for us to stay where God wants us. The more time we spend in prayer with our Father, the less time we will spend worrying.
We are not a surprise to God. He saw us before we were born! He intercedes for us, He watches over us, He sees us and prays for us. Even when our prayers are not right, the Spirit leads us how to pray.
2. THE MIDDLE IS WHERE WE MEET JESUS IN A BRAND NEW WAY.
We now have an opportunity to see Jesus better than we were able to see Him before. Now that we are not being pulled by the haters and the halers. We can find peace when every other place has turmoil. We never know His wisdom until we are surrounded by fools.
Jesus means to pass them by in this passage because He wants them to see Him as they never saw Him before.
3. THE MIDDLE IS WHERE WE CAN SEE ROOM FOR GROWTH AND GRACE.
The disciples did not understand and their hearts were hardened. They thought the loaves were about the movement but the loaves were about Jesus. He is the living Bread. You won’t hunger anymore. He is the Bread of Life. They did not understand the ‘sea walking’ because they did not understand the loaves and their hearts were hardened.
SERVE HIM WITH AN ‘IT IS WELL’ SPIRIT.
