08 Mar 5 Keys To An Irresistible Group Environment
PURPOSE: Create an atmosphere that is makes people want to come back.
- Cleanliness. Try to walk into your space with fresh observations. Does the room look like it’s in order? Are there any unique smells or odors that might not be appealing? As a visitor, would you be okay sitting down on the chairs and/or furniture?
- Circle of Seats. This may be obvious here, but it is much better to set up a circle than setting up rows of chairs. This is a conversation you are having about the message where you want people to participate and interact with each other (circles are better than rows).
- Atmosphere. Anything you can do to create a warm and inviting impression when people enter can make your group more enjoyable. The options here may vary depending on your locations, but some ideas may be snacks, nice smelling candles, some music playing in the background.
- Finish Setting Up 15 Minutes in Advance. Most people show up a little later than the specified time but some people do show up early. You want to be prepared, ready to greet them at the door, not vacuuming or moving chairs around. You should have your attention focused on the people entering especially if it is their first time.
- Fellowship and Prayer. Leave time before and after to fellowship. This is important to getting to know each other. Always make time to pray for each other and for the community, church, nation leaders and the lost. These are great ways to make people feel connected.
